I recently created a moveable alphabet for the children to create words. It is usually easier for kids at this level to 'write' words as opposed to read them. Instead of writing out each letter - which can be frustrating at this stage - the kids can use these magnetic letters and place them on the board.
I'm using lower case letters, which is still tricky for some, so I wrote the upper case letter on each drawer as well.
I ask the children to come up with words they want to spell - which leads to lots of fun! I don't encourage them to spell 'easy' words and I don't correct them. I do help them sound out each word. Seeing how they spell phonetically accentuates how complicated the English language is!
This last one is maybe the most difficult to translate - only because you may read 'brat' and think that she is commenting on Elsa's behaviour (of course we all know that Elsa is far from a brat!).
Here's a hint - the last word is a common hair accessory.
